Lacoste and Alpine Join Forces on a Collaboration Rooted in French Ingenuity
by Adriano Batista

Lacoste and Alpine have come together for a collaboration that brings together two French icons of sport and design. The partnership results in two creations: the Beware of the Crocodile – Alpine Lacoste A290 Rallye and a capsule collection that translates the shared spirit into clothing. Both are built on the same ambition that drove René Lacoste and Jean Rédélé: to push the limits of their disciplines by combining performance with lightness.

The A290 Rallye is built on a deliberately radical technical foundation. As the most extreme version of the future A290, developed for customer racing, it embodies Alpine’s commitment to electric motorsport. The exterior reinterprets rally codes with widened tracks, large wheels, pronounced wheel arches, a prominent diffuser, a roof-mounted air intake, an imposing rear wing, and exposed carbon fibre. The bluish-white exterior colour draws from Alpine landscapes, evoking snow and ice with particles that create a subtle texture. The signature lighting has been reinvented as a nod to the crocodile’s gaze, while graphic details across the bodywork reflect the collaborative work of both creative teams.

Inside, the experience shifts to an immersive monochromatic red, as if entering the crocodile’s mouth. Lacoste’s iconic petit piqué fabric upholsters the seats and door panels, with embroidery by Potencier, the historic workshop responsible for the brand’s crocodiles. A shared Alpine x Lacoste logo appears in bas-relief throughout the interior. Structural elements feature a red anodized finish, while the rally seats incorporate 3D-printed parts manufactured by ERPRO using lattice structures that combine lightness with performance. The vehicle incorporates 290 crocodile references throughout its design.

The capsule collection extends the collaboration into clothing. Polo shirts, T-shirts, lightweight technical garments, and accessories combine sporty elegance with technical expertise, designed to accompany movement.

Through the partnership, Lacoste and Alpine celebrate a vision of French design where innovation serves a purpose and performance is at the service of emotion. The capsule collection is available now.
