Creative director Taro Horiuchi continued to shape a new chapter for kolor, using clothing to explore the idea of identity and human connection for Spring/Summer 2027. The collection Aliens proposed that the “alien” is not a creature from another planet, but the people around us: our neighbours, families, lovers and even ourselves. Rather than focusing on difference as division, Horiuchi suggested that distance and misunderstanding are universal experiences, brought together through collaborations with creatives from Taiwan, Greece and Japan.

That message translated into a wardrobe that balanced familiar tailoring with subtle disruption and reconstruction. Business suiting appeared slightly off-kilter through skewed necklines, surplus buttons and layered constructions, including standout triple-breasted blazers that. Pinstriped tailoring sat alongside vibrant injections of color, with flashes of what I’ve been calling this season Kermit green.

Horiuchi also introduced playful Western references, blending cowboy boots fitted with practical Vibram soles with yoke detailing and printed accessories such as a turquoise-inspired belt. Elsewhere, trompe-l’œil fur prints reinforced the familiar yet strange tone. With such an international eclectic crowd making up the rows, as we left the venue and headed out on the streets of Paris, we had to reconsider who the “alien” really is.
