Kenzo Spring/Summer 2027
by Anna Barr
For Spring/Summer 2027, Nigo returned KENZO to Place des Victoires, the storied Parisian square where founder Kenzo Takada opened his first boutique in 1976. Half a century later, the location serves as both backdrop and inspiration for a collection that sees a café, florist, treats and t-shirt pop-up running through fashion week.
Drawing from photographs of Takada himself alongside the effortless cool of 1970s icons such as Miles Davis, Nigo delivered a wardrobe that unfolds through a sophisticated blend of Ivy League references, relaxed tailoring, and workwear practicality. Varsity jackets, rugby shirts, pointed collars, and layered silhouettes channel a distinctly collegiate spirit, while striped cummerbunds and dandy-inflected suiting introduce a sense of romance. Throughout, Nigo elevated familiar archetypes through meticulous craftsmanship. Japanese denim reworked with tailored precision, ribbon detailing adds unexpected texture, and richly tactile fabrics from velour denim and houndstooth to intricate knitwear.
Accessories that stood out included the Victoire bag that revived an archival postman silhouette, while the Kite family returns in fresh colorways. Collaborations included Converse and Paraboot, which reimagined classic footwear. Since joining Kenzo, Nigo continues to capture the optimistic spirit of the house with a celebration of individuality, spontaneity, and the enduring beauty of bringing contrasting worlds together.
