Jean Paul Gaultier Pre-Spring 2027: Le Vestiaire 1

Duran Lantink’s first Pre-Spring collection for Jean Paul Gaultier, Le Vestiaire 1, began with analogue fitting photographs shot by Mr. Gaultier himself. The images, taken from the 1997 collection, were developed into a trompe l’œil print that sets the tone for a wardrobe built through continuity and transformation.
Lantink draws from iconic Gaultier themes, reinterpreting them through a contemporary lens. Sailor, military, and biker references run throughout. Shirts and outerwear carry printed medals and chevrons. High collars evoke protective gear. Anchor-detailed belts finish the silhouettes. Proportion and transformation remain central, expressed through blown-up trompe l’œil effects, a padded bomber dress, an inverted lapel skirt, and an upside-down slip-shirt dress. The disruption is subtle, grounded in wearability.
The collection continues the dialogue from Fall/Winter 2026, where tailoring, sportswear, and elegance meet. Brown pinstripes appear alongside a nylon suit-jacket dress and a drop-shoulder vest and jacket. Conical bras, tire-inspired jewelry, and distinctive footwear return not as seasonal statements but as wardrobe staples. Le Vestiaire 1 approaches dressing as something meant to last, pieces designed to move between seasons and occasions without losing their character.
