Saint Laurent Rive Droite is presenting a new exhibition. It features the work of photographer Hugo Mapelli, curated by Anthony Vaccarello. The show will be on view at the Saint Laurent Babylone location from January 20th to March 22nd.

Hugo Mapelli is a French photographer and filmmaker based in Paris. His work explores photographic processes, often blending historical techniques with contemporary tools. He is interested in human relationships, everyday life, and the interaction between people and their environment, focusing on small details.

His photographs combine portraiture, architecture, and landscape. He often uses light effects and minimalist compositions to highlight intimate, fleeting moments.

Mapelli’s practice is rooted in the darkroom. He favors manual, experimental processes like cyanotypes, photograms, and luminograms. This often results in unique works that exist between photography, object, and abstraction. He primarily works with film, valuing its texture and emotional depth.

Through this approach, he reflects on ideas of imperfection, trace, and material memory, creating a dialogue between old craftsmanship and a modern sensibility. His work draws from both the worlds of fashion and abstraction, with a strong pictorial inspiration aimed at creating timeless images.

All of the artworks in the exhibition will be available for purchase. A fanzine dedicated to the show will also be sold in stores.
