Galerie OM has opened Partie Deux at P100, marking the start of this year’s INTERVENTION programme by Reference Studios during Berlin Fashion Week. The exhibition looks at carpets and tapestries not as decoration but as carriers of memory and encoded meaning, bringing together textiles from different cultures and centuries united through a shared visual language rather than geography.

Partie Deux gathers works spanning the seventeenth to the twenty-first century in hand-woven silk, mohair, and cotton, each fabric a distinct register of touch and time. The exhibition traces recurring forms: volcanic landscapes echo in abstract motifs, insects become ornaments, protective symbols reappear in distant traditions, borders become thresholds, and patterns become maps.

At the centre is the idea of the carpet as symbolic territory, a surface designed to be lived with and inherited. To stand on a carpet was never a neutral act; it was to enter a marked space between the domestic and the sacred. Even mounted as a wall tapestry, that charge remains. This logic of inheritance extends into a contemporary register, with the hand-weaving traditions gathered here sharing lineage with the ateliers of Lake Como, where looms have long produced textiles for houses including Prada, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton.

Landschaft Studie – Artist: New Rug Studio

For Partie Deux, Galerie OM has commissioned new works by two Berlin studios. Weberei and New Rug Studio each present a piece conceived for the exhibition, rooted in craft knowledge. Installed within a carpet-covered environment, the works create a landscape of textures alongside contemporary seating elements that transform the space into something between a sanctuary and an archaeological site. The sound is shaped in partnership with Einklang and Inselklang, bringing a sonic dimension as considered as the works on the walls.

The exhibition runs from 2 July to 23 July 2026 at Galerie OM, Potsdamer Str. 100, Berlin. We can’t wait to experience it first-hand.
