Eli Russell Linnetz, founder and creative director of ERL, returns to Paris for the presentation of the Spring/Summer 2027 collection, deepening his ongoing relationship with the French capital and its position within his creative universe. The American designer stages his latest menswear proposal inside an immersive, pink-saturated environment in the city centre, a surreal setting where Californian ease collides with a heightened sense of pop fantasy.

At its core lies a fictionalised memory of a trip to Martha’s Vineyard, where a simple family visit unravels into a weekend of displacement, unfamiliar dynamics and accidental belonging. That narrative framework quietly shapes a wardrobe built less on plot than on mood—one defined by contrast, nostalgia and an instinctive reading of American archetypes.

On one hand, East Coast preppy codes surface through tartan suiting, madras checks, Oxford shirts, polos and softly tailored separates, all relaxed just enough to escape strict tradition. The palette drifts through sun-faded pastels—powder pinks, buttery yellows, pale blues and washed greens—suggesting garments worn, remembered and softened by time.

In parallel, ERL’s West Coast language cuts through with a more instinctive energy. Venice Beach references appear via skate and surf-inflected silhouettes, graphic sweats, relaxed denim, and sport pieces punctuated by flashes of neon. Rather than operating as two separate ideas, both references constantly overlap, dissolving into a single hybrid American wardrobe.

Rose-printed tailoring, patchworked madras sets with matching boxers, hand-finished knitwear and acid-washed denim become some of the collection’s most immediate statements. They carry a sense of imperfection and intimacy, echoing ERL’s ongoing interest in archive references and lived-in fabrication rather than pristine finish.

Sun-faded loafers, overdyed canvas sneakers, beach bags, and caps extend that same sensibility into accessories and footwear. Everything feels deliberately weathered, as though shaped by time, travel and repetition rather than produced in isolation.

By the time the collection settles, Season 14 sharpens ERL’s identity into a clearer proposition: a collision of American archetypes filtered through Californian optimism, where prep and skate culture coexist, and memory becomes material rather than reference.
