Dsquared2 Spring/Summer 2027
by Adriano Batista
Dsquared2‘s Spring/Summer 2027 plays out like a fever dream, lit by candlelight and neon. Dean and Dan Caten build the collection around tattooed angels and forbidden desires, tough guys with tender hearts who wear bravado like armour and vulnerability like an imprint. The references come from Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, the swagger of rap culture, and the sacred imagery of Italian devotion, all used to challenge conventional ideas of masculinity.
The Dsquared2 guy has nothing to prove and even less to hide. Italian rapper Promessa embodies that spirit in the imagery. Tailoring is turned inside out and stripped of its conventions: double-breasted suits take on relaxed proportions, raw-cut shorts reveal the linings beneath, and inner waistbands migrate to the outside of trousers. Waistcoats expose tattooed torsos, while boxers peek above low-slung trousers and jeans. Denim is distressed, ripped, and reassembled, with printed mesh inserts disrupting straight-leg styles and cherubs emerging from the faded surface of the Angel jeans.
Devotional references become a language of embellishment. Crosses, crystals, and medallions punctuate shirts and denim, while rosaries hang against bare chests. A new tropical floral print brings in the exuberance of ’80s pop culture, with acid lime and hot pink against sacred hearts and old-school tattoo imagery. Statement belts with oversized buckles, leather Creepers with woven details, and embellished boots worn with crocheted socks complete the look.
