Paris Fashion Week’s soaring temperatures made the arrival of Dries Van Noten‘s Spring/Summer 2027 collection feel especially timely. As guests sought relief from the sweltering June heat, Julian Klausner’s lightweight, airy wardrobe seemed designed for exactly this moment. This season marked Klausner’s second menswear collection for Dries Van Noten, and presented a collection that felt like a natural extension of both Dries Van Noten himself and the enduring identity of the Dries Van Noten man.
Inspired by L’Après-midi d’un faune, Stéphane Mallarmé’s 1876 poem about a mythical creature drifting between dreams and reality, his vision centered on hazy afternoons, sensuality and the quiet beauty of nature. That dreamlike atmosphere permeated every look, moving gently with the body. Transparent trenches, washed silk parkas and softly belted hunting jackets reimagined familiar wardrobe staples. Textiles took center stage as sequins shimmered. Earthy blush shades were punctuated by vivid greens and blues inspired by the natural world, reinforcing the collection’s dialogue between fantasy and landscape. While it is still early in Julian Klausner’s tenure, SS27 suggested he understands precisely what makes Dries Van Noten resonate. As the show closed, I was in awe of what beauty a collection can bring and that the house is very much in good hands.
