Dries Van Noten Foundation Opens First Venice Exhibition with Codognato
by Adriano Batista

The Fondazione Dries Van Noten in Venice opens its first exhibition called “The only true protest is beauty.” The show takes place at the Palazzo Pisani Moretta. Curated by Dries Van Noten with Geert Bruloot, the exhibition brings together fashion, jewelry, art, design, photography, glass, ceramics, and material experiments. The idea is to look at beauty’s ability to challenge norms and disrupt dogmas.
More than 200 works are spread across 20 rooms. The show moves from the ground floor to the first and second levels of the Piano Nobile. Established fashion houses have sent pieces from their archives. Contemporary textile creations also appear. Collectible art and design objects sit next to experimental works made by independent designers and artists from international galleries.

In this setting, Codognato is the only jeweler included. The house is presenting 15 pieces. Dries Van Noten picked each one personally. Some of these pieces belong to long-standing collectors and clients. Others were made specifically for the exhibition. Seven of the pieces can be purchased.
Several creations revisit iconic designs made by earlier generations of artisans. Others offer new versions of the house’s symbolic and sculptural style. The new pieces were designed by the family together, keeping the spirit of Codognato while exploring new directions.

Mario and Cristina Codognato said they are delighted that Dries Van Noten chose Venice for his foundation. They called it an extraordinary addition to the city’s cultural offerings. As Venetians, they said they feel deeply honored to represent Venice’s millennia-old artisanal tradition in the foundation’s first exhibition.

The exhibition runs from April 25, 2026, to October 4, 2026. Visitors can book a time slot online.
