Dr. Martens and MHL. have come together for their first collaboration, reinterpreting the iconic 1461 shoe. Built on shared values of functional design and durability, the partnership arrives in July 2026, the same year the 1461 celebrates its 65th anniversary. First launched in 1961 as a tough work shoe, the three-eyelet silhouette has endured for more than six decades. It now serves as the foundation for MHL.’s considered reworking.

The MHL. Dr. Martens 1461 is made using chrome-free leather supplied by historic British tannery C. F. Stead in Leeds. Available in black and dark brown, the oiled and grained leather has a matte finish designed to develop a natural patina over time. Details include flat, unwaxed cotton laces, a reinforced toe cap with double stitching, a padded heel collar, and a leather pull tab inspired by archival work shoe models. Underfoot, the signature DMS air-cushioned sole features a smoke finish and black-on-black Goodyear welts.

The shoe has been handcrafted at Dr. Martens’ original Made in England factory in Northamptonshire. The campaign was photographed by Kuba Ryniewicz at the factory, highlighting the craft behind the edition.

A Dr. Martens lace-up shoe is timeless,” said Margaret Howell. “It’s also durable, well-made, and can be worn by anyone, regardless of age, just like our MHL collection.”

The Dr. Martens x MHL. 1461 is available worldwide at drmartens.com, select Dr. Martens stores, margarethowell.co.uk, and in Margaret Howell and MHL. stores.
