For Fall/Winter 2026, Doublet confronts something invisible: air. The collection is titled “AIR,” focusing on the substance that is always there but rarely noticed: weightless, colorless, and without a clear outline.

The work began with new materials derived from the atmosphere. These include yarn made from captured CO2, bio-based resins created by microorganisms that consume greenhouse gases, and ink made from carbon derived from exhaust. The designers worked with substances born from the very air we take for granted.

But the process was far from simple. The air-derived yarn was difficult to handle. It had severe heat shrinkage, unpredictable changes during processing, and textures that refused to behave as expected. The collection acknowledges that behind every praised technology lies countless failures and trial and error. Yet the work continued, driven by the belief that “next time, it will work.” The designers ask, why go that far? The answer is simple: because it’s interesting. Because what you couldn’t do yesterday, you might do today. And beyond that effort is a view you can only see by continuing.

Doublet wanted to give form to that “time they never gave up.” They aimed to show that every detour and moment of hesitation was also a kind of breath, a process leading toward the future.
