Camper is presenting an installation in its newly opened store on Serrano Street as part of Mayrit 2026, the Madrid Design and Architecture Biennial. The project, developed by architecture studio TAKK, challenges material conventions with furniture that sits between the functional and the experimental. It opens on 22 May and runs until mid-June.

The collaboration stems from a shared view of design as a research tool. TAKK, founded by Mireia Luzárraga and Alejandro Muiño, takes Mayrit’s (Super)Models framework and brings it into the retail space, merging traditional craftsmanship with ecological and “more-than-human” perspectives. The material at the centre of the experiment is wax, historically used for prototyping and then discarded. Here, wax becomes the final material, operating in a circular cycle that allows constant reconfiguration without generating waste.

The installation features catenary-inflated geometries, forms shaped by gravity that function as stools and shoe displays. These organic pieces sit within the brutalist interior of the Serrano store, contrasting with the Royal Brown marble and ebony wood. The apparent fragility of the wax plays against the weight and permanence of the surrounding materials.

The installation is part of the Camper Together platform and can be visited at the Serrano Street store. The full cultural programme of Mayrit 2026 runs across Madrid from 20 to 31 May.
