Balenciaga Spring 2027

Pierpaolo Piccioli’s Spring 2027 collection for Balenciaga is a reconsideration of clothing itself. It interrogates the house’s couture identity, evolving the approaches and obsessions of Cristóbal Balenciaga while introducing a new concept: the “unsized.”
The idea starts from a central Balenciaga principle, the integrity of the human body as the base for creation. From there, the collection proposes a light architecture, where garments are drawn around the body and adjusted through ribbons of cloth rather than fixed sizing. It’s a gesture toward traditional couture construction, but the decoration comes from function. The silhouettes are atmospheric and kinetic, constantly shifting and uninhibited. There is a focus on feel, on tactile intention and liberation.
Materiality has always been an engine for invention at Balenciaga, and for Spring 27 that principle translates into an innovative featherweight techno taffeta used across the full wardrobe. Archetypes from the house are rendered in this fabric, quotidian pieces given new weightlessness. Silhouettes are subtle and reduced, relying on the ebb and flow of layers against the body for their architecture. The “unsized” garments come in double cashmere, kid mohair, poplin, denims of different washes. Entire ensembles weigh less than a kilogram.
The collection proposes a wardrobe where freedom and construction are not in opposition but in conversation. Spring 27 is about lightness, in every sense of the word.
