Balenciaga Introduces the Radar Sneaker

Balenciaga has released a new footwear design called the Radar Sneaker. It is one of Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli’s first projects for the house. The name comes from radar technology, the kind used for detection and tracking. The idea ties to intuition and awareness, the agility of picking up on what is around you.
The sneaker itself is ultra-lightweight and streamlined. The design aims for versatility, responsiveness, flexibility, comfort and everyday wear. It is precise and complex but reads as slender and comprehensive. A double lacing system wraps around the entire upper. The grip curls around the outsole. Both elements make a statement, appearing to merge with the foot. Structured parts carry a debossed 3B sport icon and Balenciaga’s signature exposed shoe size. A Ballerina version is also coming. It interprets the same elements in a slimmer, lower-cut silhouette.
