For Fall/Winter 2026, Balenciaga‘s Creative Director Pierpaolo Piccioli drew inspiration from the High Renaissance technique of clair-obscur, translating the interplay of shadow and illumination into sculptural silhouettes. The collection, honored the architectural legacy of Balenciaga while offering a more introspective vision of the house’s future.

Elsewhere, the theme of illumination extended into accessories and footwear. Shoes created with J.M. Weston twisted and folded around the foot, while sneakers appeared subtly illuminated through ombré treatments inspired by imagined light. Embroideries and textured surfaces suggested the painterly drama of Renaissance art, as if highlights and shadows had been translated directly into fabric.

For Piccioli, the collection ultimately centered on people and the emotional narratives they carry. “I am deeply interested in people, in the narratives they carry, in the complex intertwining paths that shape their lives,” he explained in the press notes. “I am drawn to fragility and imperfection, because that is where I recognize authenticity and beauty of life.” Referencing the emotional storytelling found in Euphoria, the designer described the collection as a way of weaving together human stories while “always finding the light in the darkness.”

That connection was reinforced through the collaboration with the series’ creator, Sam Levinson, who reflected on Piccioli’s humanistic approach to fashion. “I’m very moved by Pierpaolo as a human being,” Levinson said. “He’s driven by the heart — intuition, compassion and connection — yet as a fashion designer he must architect those ideals in an almost mathematical way to create something tangible.” Drawing parallels with the emotional arcs of Euphoria, Levinson noted that the tension between light and dark runs through both works: a search for balance that mirrors the complexity of modern life. With Euphoria season three coming out next month, lets see where the emotional arcs take us.
