The gallery Acne Paper Palais Royal has opened its first exhibition of 2026. It features new work by the multidisciplinary artist Jordan Hemingway, titled Angels with Dirty Faces.

The exhibition centers on Hemingway’s photography, which reacts to the chaotic world outside the gallery walls. The works are a predominantly black-and-white exploration of the beautiful and the macabre. Each photograph examines time-honored icons and rituals, focusing on how they are experienced through the body and movement. Together, they highlight the contrasts within human spirituality.

In a statement, Hemingway describes his subjects as “creatures of culture, drunk on lust and freedom.” He sees them as angels birthed from darkness, embodying dichotomies like strength and vulnerability. “Each with a secret of their own,” he says.

The cast of subjects includes notable figures like performance artist Marina Abramović, musician Yves Tumor, model Mariacarla Boscono, and performer Lewis G. Burton. The exhibition is presented as a theatrical journey through the sacred and the profane, continuing an artistic approach that confronts iconography, referencing influences from Andy Warhol to Joel-Peter Witkin.
