An Equation for Love: Balenciaga’s Valentine Series

In February 2026, Balenciaga reintroduces its Valentine Series. The focus is on a specific, intellectual metaphor for love. This year’s collection features a selection of hoodies and T-shirts, all in a crinkled, heavily distressed black finish with worn edges.
The central graphic is not a heart, but an equation. It is a rendition of the “Love Equation,” a complex theory linked to physicist Paul Dirac. The theory describes quantum entanglement, where two connected particles remain linked across any distance. The equation is printed in red on the front of the garments. A longer scientific explanation of the symbols is printed on the back.
