For the Chinese New Year, Maison Valentino focuses on the feeling of a beginning. The campaign, for the Year of the Horse, is about dreaming and connection.
Alessandro Michele conceived the story, which was shot by Julie Greve. It stars Valentino ambassador, the actress Lareina Song, and model Yi Fan. They wear pieces from the Valentino Cruise 2026 collection. The setting is intimate. A key symbol is a zoetrope, an old device that creates the illusion of motion from still images. This object introduces ideas of movement and change. The interaction between the two characters is warm and gentle, leading to a soft, dreamlike dance. A horse runs in the loop of the zoetrope, acting as a metaphor for endless possibility.

The celebration extends beyond the images. In Shanghai, Valentino will present ‘Illuminate Your Dream,’ a lantern fair at the historic Tianhou Palace. Curated by X Zhu-Nowell, it features light installations by Chinese artists. Each lantern interprets the theme of illuminating a dream, turning it into a wish. The event, open to the public on January 17th and 18th, will also include traditional craft and food stalls. It is an attempt to weave contemporary art directly into the fabric of the festive celebration, honoring heritage while looking forward.
