Peir Wu Spring/Summer 2016

Peir Wu continues to develop her streamlined, effortless state of dressing for Spring/Summer 2016. The brand’s trademark aesthetic, defined as ‘Casual Futurism,’ reflects the potential in the brand’s specially engineered clothing to adapt to mens’ increasingly active lifestyles. Think Patagonia meets Ermenegildo Zegna – Spring/Summer 2016 is a culmination and refinement of the designer’s timeless point of view – an unpretentious, smart and sustainable wardrobe for a hyper modern lifestyle. Sophistication, versatility and comfort are the three pillars of this sportswear inspired collection, fusing activewear with relaxed tailoring. Styled to focus on the lightweight and functional qualities of the design, the looks are trans-seasonal and flexible to the spontaneous, adventurous possibilities of everyday life.

This season, Peir Wu presents her S/S16 collection in a three-part photo documentary series, which captures her sportswear-inspired ensembles on men who use and navigate the urban landscape as their playground. The campaign kicks off with Part 1: ‘Two Climbing Boys (Beefield & Sacha),’ a celebration of rock climbing – and the elements of strategy, strength and mental focus. A series of photographs taken by Edith Bergfors and Violetta Beral documents seasoned rock climbing teenage duo Beefield Scott and Sacha Salamon White “buildering” (climbing building surfaces) in industrial East London, near the designer’s studio. All action video footage has been shot by Peir herself, who is also an avid rock climber. Two further themes will be explored in the 3-part series, to be unveiled over the coming season.

FUZI UVTPK PUBLISHES FLASH TATTOO COLLECTION N°2

French artist FUZI UVTPK is pleased to announce the publication of Flash Tattoo Collection N°2, a limited-edition book that features his Ignorant Style designs. Flash Tattoo Collection N°2 is the follow-up to Flash Tattoo Collection N°1, which was released in 2011 and has since sold out.

Flash Tattoo Collection N°2 is presented in the same format as N°1— it is the same size and has the same number of pages— but features a shiny red cover and 180 new designs that FUZI has made in the past year. The new book showcases FUZI UVTPK’s evolution in the past four years, during which time he has had events and exhibitions in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Paris, London, Berlin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Moscow, Taipei, and Sydney, and built a high-profile client list that includes people such as Diplo, Os Gemeos and Scarlett Johansson.

FUZI UVTPK started tattoing in 2008 as another way to express himself. “I wanted to make tattoes in the same way that I made graffiti,” he explains. “I wanted to convey a feeling of freedom, which is far more important than making something beautiful or perfect.”   Many of the designs in Flash Tattoo Collection N°2 reference his past in graffiti (the back cover of the book features a photo from this period), but there is also a significant amount of ironic and fantastical designs (headless mermaids and thug centaurs, for example). There is also a nod to classic tattoo subjects—such as skulls or pinups—but reimagined in his iconic style. “I’m not a tattoo artist,” FUZI clarifies. “I make art, and tattoing is part of my art.”
