This season Cottweiler imagined a community embracing Neolithic agricultural ideals in a post-industrial society. Using modern technological fabrics contrasted with organic materials, the brand harnessed two aesthetics at once.

Pale sandy wools and other natural fibres were encased in near sheer cellophane rainproofs. The mixture of urban silhouettes, such as elasticated waistbands, clipped belts, zipped high necks and baseball caps heightened the playfulness of the thick, textured wool pieces and oversized mittens.

Despite the near dystopian concept behind the collection, the key contrast between two lifestyles is what makes this particular collection so wearable. In our ever changing weather systems, extended summers and brutal winters, consumers require a diverse wardrobe of synthetic and biological materials to keep us dry and warm. The development of their waterproof shearling coat is an example of this contemporary functionality.

Wheat straw filled the habitat of the show space, and continued as a motif throughout the collection, embroidered on jumpers and hanging around model’s necks. A call to bring today’s fashion audience back to a time of craft and agriculture.
