This seasons Spring/Summer collection takes inspiration form prison bodybuilding and correctional uniforms, mainly made iconic through the Los Angeles County jail systems. Referencing Hispanic prison gangs’ Alex Mattsson uses neatly pressed shirts, tailored dungarees with military style pleats, oversized uniform style looks in bold colour pallets of oranges and pinks, mixing denim and jersey with injections of psychedelic prints synonyms with his brand.
Known for re-interpreting sub-culture aesthetics and combining his signature future aesthetic, Alex Mattsson has focused on the ‘Choloumibans’ this season, an eccentric group who’s style derived from the slow stoner sounds of cumbia music of Monterrey Mexico, blending references of this Mexican inspired subcultures idea of tropical Colombia.
