David J. Krause and Nina Zilka, founders of the clothing and apothecary label Alder New York, released their Men’s Fall/Winter 2015 lookbook.

Our collections are always rooted in classic menswear,” says Krause. “We care about practicality and we always have that ethos, but we still design from a Millennial point of view. Our clothes are relevant for today but still have the same quality and logic that is the menswear heritage.

Classic fits like the Travel Trouser and Henley get an update in casual, soft fabrications that allow for movement. “Texture was very important to us this season. We wanted everything to feel really luxurious and comfortable. Our customer is a city-minded man, and he wants to travel and be active while still looking curated,” says Zilka.

In keeping with their casual luxury ethos, the team played with their classic button front shirt, elongating one style, adding knit sleeves and back to another, and introducing the Rounded Collar Shirt. “We like the rounded collar because unlike a pointed collar shirt that can curl at the ends and needs collar stays, this is a simple no fuss shirt that always looks good,” says Krause.

Outerwear pieces like the wool Cargo Jacket and Cargo Blazer are made with this attention to detail as well. On both, the raccoon fur collar is detachable, allowing for the jacket to be cleaned separately.
