Acne Studios presents The Johnny Winter Project
by Adriano B.
The Johnny Winter Project is a Fall/Winter 2018 menswear capsule collection that pays tribute to the late American singer-songwriter and blues musician Johnny Winter, a lifelong inspiration to Jonny Johansson, Acne Studios Creative Director.
Delving into Johnny Winter’s personal archive, Acne Studios re-interpreted key pieces in an homage to the musician’s idiosyncratic visual persona both on and off-stage. A pair of dark rinse, straight leg jeans features stud details along the outer seams, while another pair of five pocket jeans is made from a deep burgundy velvet. There are three outerwear pieces: a duck egg blue varsity jacket, a mid-blue denim jacket with dark rinse panels and contrast color patches, and a dark rinse denim jacket with stud details along the collar, cuffs and patch pockets. A green and white striped tailored shirt with a pointed collar flashes rows of ruffles at the front, and a lilac t-shirt is emblazoned with Johnny Winter’s name.
Alongside the Acne Studios capsule collection, one-off collector’s items from Johnny Winter’s personal archive will be available to purchase online at acnestudios.com. Proceeds from the sales will go directly to the Johnny Winter Foundation for the Arts, a charity dedicated to Winter’s life and legacy.
The Johnny Winter Project will be available online and in selected stores from 25 October.
